Part 12: Obligation to Observe the Constitutions
Part 12: Obligation to Observe the Constitutions
380 All members of the Institute must observe with the greatest possible perfection the evangelical counsels. They must also surrender to Jesus through Mary, and “direct their lives according to the Institute’s own law and so strive for the perfection of their state.”[352]
381 The Institute’s own law is formed by:
1. the Constitutions handed down by the Founding Father;
2. the Monastic Rule;
3. the Directories containing subsidiary and practical norms, applicable to the Constitutions;
4. the Rules;
5. the Chapter norms and documents;
6. the executive decisions of the Superiors;
7. traditions, good customs, and our own documents, as long as they are corroborated and approved by the competent ecclesiastical authority.
382 “The diocesan Bishop can grant a dispensation from the Constitutions in particular cases.”[353]
383 May the Blessed Virgin Mary help us all to reach the Father through the Son in the Holy Spirit.
